The local unit of Japanese clutch manufacturer Ogura Clutch Co. Ltd. has invested P710 million in a new facility for its manufacturing operations and distribution in the Philippines, relocating from one special economic zone in Laguna to another one in Batangas.

On Thursday, Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) said Ogura Clutch Philippines Inc., had relocated its operations to their 826-hectare industrial-anchored LIMA (Lipa-Malvar) Estate in the province.

Ogura Clutch Philippines specializes in manufacturing clutch parts, supplying big automobile brands such as Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Ford.

Their newly established facility at the LIMA Estate is projected to generate approximately 1,500 job opportunities for the residents of Lipa and Malvar in Batangas.

The infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group said that the new facility covers 16,144 square meters within the 200-hectare industrial expansion zone of the LIMA Estate.

“Here at LIMA Estate, we are eager to collaborate closely with our partners to foster an environment where both businesses and local residents can thrive, and we look forward to forging a legacy of economic prosperity and positive social impact,” said Clifford Academia, vice president for operations of LIMA Land.

For his part, Ogura Clutch Philippines president Toshio Takahashi, said they strategically chose to relocate operations to LIMA Estate due to its comprehensive infrastructure development solutions.

“The distinctive support provided by AIC for Japanese manufacturing companies, notably demonstrated through organizations like the Japanese Locator Association, distinguishes the estate from other industrial parks,” Takahashi said in a statement.

“This unique environment not only aligns with but also enhances Ogura Clutch’s ability to conduct business with unwavering confidence,” he added. INQ
